Audit: a new online ear training tool

Practice tool for harmonic discrimination assessments developed for RCM students
Jonathan has developed a new online ear training tool for the Royal College of Music, London. The browser-based program, Audit, generates practice questions for RCM students preparing for their aural studies assessments. It devises and plays 4-part chords of varying degrees of consonance and dissonance, from which students must be able to sing back any note requested by their examiner. The software is written primarily in JavaScript, and works with responsive layouts on any internet-connected device.

Jonathan will be writing a chapter about Audit for the forthcoming Routledge Companion to Aural Training in Music Education, due for publication in 2020.
