Event: new work for Magnetic Resonator Piano

A chance to hear Jonathan Pitkin's l.v. as part of a discussion event at the Royal College of Music
On November 23rd, Jonathan will be joined at the RCM by pianist Kate Ryder and the director of Queen Mary University's Centre for Digital Music, Andrew McPherson, for a discussion about composing for the Magnetic Resonator Piano. The MRP is an augmented acoustic instrument which brings new possibilities of attack, dynamic shaping and microtonality within the reach of the performer - and, as a 'nearly new' instrument, poses a particular set of challenges to composers seeking to contribute to its steadily-growing repertoire. The event, part of the RCM's Music and Ideas series, will feature some performance of Jonathan's new piece for the instrument, l.v.
