The latest of Jonathan's ongoing set of extended electronic studies is available now. Study no.3: TWIST! is a 20-minute piece for a virtuoso virtual vocalist (IRCAM's ISiS singing synthesizer) which explores extremes of speed, agility, precision and stamina that would be beyond the capabilities of any human performer. By combining sampled footsteps with the simulated vocal sound in a 3D space, TWIST! aims to create the sense of a singer moving around the audience in both realistic and more disruptive ways. The text consists almost entirely of French tongue-twisters.
